Gerald Williams suffered a heart attack at the station after training the night before. Gerald more commonly known as Chief because of his Lumbee Indian decent was a very dedicated member of Cool Springs. Chief could always be found in the middle of a great “tale” surround by all the younger members listening to his advice. Gerald was alway up to pull duty nights at the station. On evening we were dispatched to a structure fire, all the units rolled out of the station. Once back and cleaning up Chief came out of the bedroom fussing because of all the noise, he was trying to sleep. Gerald had slept through the entire call. Our community and department suffered a great loss with his passing. Many of our lives are better for knowing this great man. RFB.
