A work van pulling a trailer with a trencher on it ran off into the median of Interstate 40 eastbound at the 161 mile marker. A car traveling in the westbound lane was struck by a piece of the van as well. Chief 200 arrived with NCSHP and IMED 3 to find the van jackknifed on the right shoulder of the eastbound lane. Driver was not injured. All other responding companies were canceled.
