August 16, 2020

A single vehicle accident on Bell Farm Road knocked power out to the area. The Chevrolet Malibu left the roadway and went airborne according to an eye witness striking a power pole breaking it in half. The car the continued across Bell Farm Road before coming to rest in a corn field. Engineer Todd Bowers arrived on scene first as the incident was a block from his home. He advised that the driver was free from the vehicle and not injured. Engine 2, Squad 1 and Chief 200 arrived on the scene and started rerouting traffic. IMED 3 arrived as well and checked the driver for any injuries. NCSHP arrived and the driver was taken into custody. Skeet’s Towing arrived and removed the vehicle. Squad 1 and Chief 200 remained on scene for an additional 2 hours controlling traffic while EnergyUnited crews worked to replace the power pole and get power back on to our community members.
