A NCDOT worker was hit by a car while placing road work signs in place. The car struck the NCDOT pickup and the worker at the same time. Engine 2, Chief 200 and Iredell Rescue arrived and immediately treated the critically injured worker. Iredell EMS arrived and transported the worker to the Level 1 Trauma Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Another ALS unit was requested as the driver of the other car started experiencing chest pains. Driver was transported to Davis Medical Center. Our personnel remained on the scene while NCSHP investigated the accident. Mocksville Highway was closed for over an hour. NCDOT crews rerouted traffic at Sain Road and Lone Pine Road. Great job by all that treated the patient.

Units: Engine 2, Chief 200

Mutual Aid: Iredell Rescue 8, IMED 3 and 13, NCSHP
