Retired Firefighter Doug Lackey passed away on Sunday morning in Kentucky. Doug joined the department in 1968 and retired in 2008 after 40 years if service. At the time of his retirement he was the first person to achieve 40 years of service with the department. Doug was a firefighter until a knee injury in 1984. After that he took on a role as traffic officer. Doug was dedicated to the department and was always proud of being a member. The members of the department extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Bea and his family. A graveside service for Firefighter Lackey will be held at Iredell Memorial Gardens in Statesville. Once the date has been determined we ill update this post.
