A early morning fire destroyed this residence on Mapleleaf Drive in the Cedar Hills subdivision. Iredell Rescue 8 was the first unit on the scene and relayed a working fire declaration. Statesville Engine 4 arrived on the scene with our Engine 1. Crews deployed two 1.75” hand lines to combat the fire which was well involved. All three occupants were out of the home and accounted for. Tanker 1 provided water supply for the firefighting efforts. The house was declared a total loss. The Iredell County Fire Marshals office determined that the cause was the dryer. Unfortunately there was a plastic five gallon pale of kerosene sitting next to it for use in heating the enclosed addition to the home. This pale melted and cause extensive flame spread. Red Cross responded to assist the homeowner. All units cleared the scene after overhaul efforts were completed. Great job by all agencies involved.
