A fire that was contained to the crawl space and quick work by firefighters kept damage to a minimum. Statesville Engine 4 was the first arriving company and they reported light smoke in the residence. Upon further investigation fire was discovered in the crawl space. A 1.75" hand line was deployed to control the fire which had started from an equipment malfunction. Engine 1's crew put a PPV fan into operation to clear the smoke from the first floor.
