Effie Lane House Fire

Cool Springs along with mutual aid from Statesville and Ebenezer responded to a residential structure fire on Effie Lane. The early morning fire was well involved before companies arrived on the scene. Deputy Chief Tom Groff reported a working fire as he was responding to the station as flames were visible from the roadway. Engine 1 arrived and laid a 4" supply line down the pathway that served as a driveway to the residence. Tanker 1 supplied water for the operation. Statesville Engine 4 crew deployed a 1.75" hand line to start knocking the fire down. Another crew lead by Assistant Chief Ray Elmore deployed a second 1.75" hand line to assist in the operation also. House had no power but was occupied at the time. Both occupants were accounted for as we arrived on the scene. After containing the fire it was allowed to burn as the walls had fallen in and the building was too dangerous for any overhaul operations. The occupants were transported by Iredell Rescue to Davis Medical Center do to smoke inhalation. Iredell County Fire Deputy Fire Marshal Shannon Goodman arrived and conducted the fire investigation.
