Lightening from an afternoon thunderstorm cause a fire in a residence of Fifth Creek Road. Soon after dispatch County Line Fire Captain Matt Baldwin reported heavy smoke visible from several miles away. Engine 1 arrived on the scene and laid 300' of 4" supply line from a hydrant at the corner of Swann Road and Fifth Creek Road. Engine 1804 arrived at this time and both Engines put their deck guns into operation blitzing the fire with water from their 1000 gallon tanks until the water supply was established and crews could deploy hand lines. Deputy Chief Danny Davis established command and then passed it to Captain Baldwin. Davis then took a crew with a 1.75" line in the front door to try and stop the fires progression. Captain Robert Lovell and Firefighter Leo Hayes put a 2.5" line into operation on the D side of the structure. After several minutes both crews were pulled from the structure and soon after the bonus room over the garage collapsed. The master stream from Engine 1 was again put into operation to try and stop the fire. The crew from Statesville Engine 4 entered the structure and was able to pull the ceiling and make a stop. Two other crews entered and used 1.75" to bring the fire under control. Later on Trinity Ladder 8 was called to the scene to assist with an elevated master stream. We assisted the property owner with removing contents that were salvageable
